Claude mode (alpha)
Hide the app and follow what Claude does as a feed of messages, calls and pictures, with the model beside it.
Claude mode turns the window into a quiet feed. You see what Claude says, every call it makes with what came back, and every picture it takes, newest at the bottom like a chat. The normal app is out of the way: no menus, sidebars or status bar. The model is still open behind the feed, so pictures and renders come out exactly as before.
Open it
- On the start screen, choose Claude mode at the top, next to Help and Keyboard shortcuts.
- From the Claude connected badge in the top bar: its dropdown has a Claude mode button.
- In the command search (ShiftC or CtrlK), type Claude mode.
- Add ?claude to the end of the address of the app. The app then opens straight into Claude mode, with no flash of the normal app.
The start screen, the command search and ?claude also switch Let Claude connect on. Claude mode is remembered: the next time you open the app it opens in it, until you leave it.
What the feed shows
- Model opened
- The first card of a session: the picture of the model, its name, type and size, how many parts, triangles and vertices it has, how long it took to open, and a green Ready for Claude. Opening another model starts a new one.
- Claude’s messages
- What Claude writes to you with the say tool: what it is about to do and what it found. They stand out in larger type.
- Calls
- Every request Claude makes: the tool, a short line of what it asked, how long it took and what came back. A running call shows its progress. A call you said no to, or that failed, is amber. Details shows exactly what was asked and the full answer.
- Pictures
- Screenshots and renders Claude takes, right under the call. Click one to see it large.
The feed shows what Claude does, not what you type to it: you still talk to Claude in its own window, and the app only sees the requests that reach it. The feed keeps the last 200 entries and the pictures of the last 40, and is emptied when you reload the page.
Open a model
The folder button at the top opens a small panel with Open file… and your recent files, with a picture, type, size and age for each, the latest one marked Continue. The empty feed shows the same list. You can also drop a file on the feed.
A model opens in the same view: if one is open, the new one replaces it, and no scene tab is opened over it. A STEP, OBJ or other file that needs choices shows the import window first, as usual. A card above the controls shows how it goes: what the app is doing, the step, the percent and the time, with a Cancel button. When it is done, the Model opened card lands in the feed and the model fades in.
The viewport
The viewport button at the top shows the model beside the feed, as a rounded card with nothing on it but a few numbers in the corner: the file, parts, triangles and vertices. Click it again to hide the model and give the feed the whole window. Either way Claude’s screenshots work.
The controls
- Open
- Open a file or a recent one.
- Viewport
- Show or hide the model.
- Settings
- Open the Claude section of Settings: what Claude may do.
- Clear
- Empty the feed.
- Exit
- Leave Claude mode. It asks first; the connection and the open model stay.
- Start a job
- Three buttons (Optimise for web, Remove fasteners, Review scene) copy the command of a ready-made job. Paste it into Claude to start it.
- Connected
- The same switch as Let Claude connect.
- Ask before edits
- The same switch as in the badge’s dropdown: the Allow or Don’t allow prompt before Claude changes the model. The prompt still appears over the feed.
- Undo and redo
- Step back or forward in the model’s history, without leaving the feed.
- Copy command
- Copies the line that adds the app to Claude.
- Stop
- Shown while a long job runs, with its progress.
Good to know
- It needs the app on your own computer. The online version has no connection to Claude.
- Claude mode hides the normal app, so to use a tool yourself, leave it first.
- A pending Allow prompt still appears; the feed does not hide it.
