The current code as a zip, straight from GitHub. Free, open source, MIT licence. Windows and macOS.
Get started
Unzip, start, drop a file.
- 01
Download and unzip
Unpack the folder anywhere. There is no installer: everything, its Python environment included, lives in that folder.
- 02
Start it
The first run sets up its Python environment, pulls the dependencies and opens the viewer; after that it starts in about a second.
- 03
Drop a file
Drop a .step or .stp file on the welcome screen, or run the converter from the command line.
- Windows
start.bat- macOS
./start.command- Command line
python step2glb.py input.step --meshopt
- Python
- 3.10, 3.11 or 3.12. 3.13 is not supported yet by cadquery-ocp.
- Browser
- One with WebGPU: a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
- Disk
- About 2 GB free for the Python environment on the first install.
- Network
- None to run. The viewer’s libraries are bundled; only a few rarely used converters are fetched on demand.
