Self-test
For the curious: the app can test itself. One address runs a suite of checks inside the live app and reports the results.
You do not need this to use the app. It is useful when you suspect that something is broken on your computer, or before you report a bug.
Run it
- Start the app.
- Open the address below in the browser. If your launcher printed a different port, use that number.
- The app starts driving itself: it works the parts tree, the toolbar, the windows and the right-click menu the way a user would.
- Results appear in a panel at the bottom right, and in the console.
http://localhost:4242/?selftestWhat it checks
Undo and redo, exports, saving a scene and opening it again, and more. Nothing is downloaded to your computer: the exports are captured in memory.
Run part of it
Add a word after selftest= to run only the tests whose name contains it. This address runs the tests about groups:
http://localhost:4242/?selftest=groupsThe hole filler has its own test
It needs Node.js, a separate program for running JavaScript, and nothing else. In a terminal in the app folder:
node tests/holefill.test.mjsIt builds plates, pockets, counterbores, engraved letters, a boss, a washer and a hollow box, runs the hole filler on them, and checks that the result is closed, has the right volume, and is untouched where it should be.
